My name is Delon Jackson, and I am currently running for District 4’s City Council. I was born and raised in Richmond, Ca., raised by a single parent even though my father was in my life, I still had to succumb to the hardship and misfortune of a young black male being raised by a single parent. I attended several elementary schools and junior high schools due to being bullied and bullying others; it was when I attended Pinole Valley High School, I was introduced to sports, which taught me discipline and structure. I strived for success and began to pride myself in school and life. After graduating from High School, I decided to continue my education at Phoenix University, where I received a B.A in Criminal Justice and attend law school at Concord Law School for one year. I then decided to transfer to Holy Names University, where I received a B.S. in Business and an M.B.A in finance, but most importantly, I was taught how to reshape and redirect my efforts to a community-wide monumental change.
I have had the honor to serve with the Richmond Police Department for 23 years as a Patrol Officer, School Resource Officer, Youth Detective, Crime Scene Investigator, Community Policing Officer, Police Chaplain Supervisor, Community Liaison and CPTED Specialist. During my service, I partnered with others to develop a Foster Care Conference, Citywide Prayer Breakfast/ Meet and Greet, Bilingual business academy, The First Bay Area Stop Hating Movement, neighborhood clean-up days, and many more events, and projects. I also served as Vice-President of the NAACP Richmond branch, dealing with community complaints and being an advocate between police and the community. Let it be known; whether it is removing graffiti, exposing the youth to leaders like Dr. Alveda King, Nick Cannon, and California’s Superintendent of Schools, Tony Thurmond, or letting the community know they are heard and fought for, I will continue to make sure I serve. https://youtu.be/FXGTwFihyWo
As a resident of Fairfield for over ten years, the first thing this community taught me was the importance of strong advocacy. My campaign is founded upon servant leadership. I will implement and promote a neighborhood council that will bridge the gap between the community and the city, and together we will find ways to help house the homeless and any other concerns of our neighborhood. As your representative, I will appoint a Crime Prevention Coordinator that will work closely with the Public Safety and Community Development Unit on issues of quality of life and crime. I will add more Code Enforcement Officers that will focus on city ordinances and municipal codes. Yes, I will make community growth my number one concern because, without businesses, our community cannot grow.
Please join my beautiful wife and me by endorsing my campaign for Fairfield City Council – District 4. A great leader is a great servant, and in four years, we will achieve greatness through God.
We need leaders not in love with money, but in love with justice. Not in love with publicity, but in love with humanity –
